There is this one interesting concept I learnt in my last SOS class. It was stated by one of the student, who recently quit from a vice-president position of a big financial organization and is working on setting up his own company.
"Know the exact thing to do without wasting time doing one task for a long time. And then quickly move to doing a more interesting or important work"
This class mate of mine, works 5 hours a week now. In these hours, he does exactly what needs to be done to successfully complete the work. For example: send emails to right people at right time and right amount of content; or spends time to look for right information and not browsing through unnecessary information. By doing this he has still managed to get great business which he claimed he did before by working 40 hours a week in his previous company.
He explains further that since he is working on building his own company, he needs to give enough time and focus. And this is something he is also very interested in. Hence, this is what the second part of the principle does.
He indeed claims that knowing the right thing to do only comes with experience. This is not something that can be achieved over night. So hang is there and spend enough time understanding and revising what you have learnt from an experience or a project.
